If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you’ll know that Alleycat was poisoned about a year ago, but you may not know that since his recovery he’s become more difficult than he ever used to be. The simple truth is that he took more from the poison than the poison took from him and the experience strengthened him in mysterious ways. When he was sick his rivals tried to take his territory away from him, but since he’s recovered he’s been out of doors a lot, disciplining the local population and driving them back behind their fences. We have to be reminded too, so if he’s in the house with us he stands on high on the back of the best sofa, from where he commands the sitting room and controls the hall; and whenever he deems it necessary he takes a random swipe at whoever’s coming in or going out. It doesn’t matter if it’s a dog or a cat. They all have to be disciplined. That’s him in the photo, getting ready to attack.
